Message from the President
Venora W. McKinney '59
Greetings my fellow alumni,
We are excited about the activities that alumni chapters and members are doing to enhance the work of the Langston University National Alumni Association (LUNAA). We encouraged your support of the 2014 Calendar Project and we thank you for your help. Four Regions, Eastern, Far Western, Midwestern and Oklahoma chose candidates for the 2014-2015 National Queen Competition, a new initiative, which we expect to grow in popularity. Several of our chapters have provided special support to students through scholarships and school supplies, including computers. Alumni have also contributed generously to Langston University fundraising such that overall alumni giving has increased significantly. We appreciate these contributions to our overall effectiveness, which help us to realize that many of our alumni take seriously the responsibility of helping to strengthen LUNAA and Langston University.
We are looking forward to new members as the Membership Committee, led by Vice President George Henry Dillard and his team, Rose Payne and Winona Murray begin their first effort during March and April, 2014. If you know alumni who are not members, please encourage them to be “joiners” this year. In addition to supporting Langston University, membership in the Alumni Association has personal advantages for each member.
Wylene Bridgeman, Tracy Jones and Executive director, Vonnie Ware Roberts have completed initial planning stages for the LUNAA All-School Reunion in Las Vegas, NV June 19-22, 2014. We will be gathering at The Orleans, and early registration is available at $125 for alumni and friends who register prior to March1, 2014. After March 1, registration fees increase: March 2 to May 1- $150; May 2-June 15 - $175 and onsite - $200. See the LUNAA website for more information. There will be opportunities for fellowship and receiving information from key staff about latest developments at Langston University.
We ask your commitment to these 2014 activities:
